Chicago hit holiday musical breaks new ground with YouTube premiere

YIPPEE KI-YAY MERRY CHRISTMAS! A DIE HARD MUSICAL PARODY

finds a new audience during 2020 shut down by
streaming full-length production online

CHICAGO -With health concerns and stay at home orders sidelining nearly all live theatre, Yippee Productions LLC went online with it’s hit holiday musical Yippee Ki-Yay Merry Christmas! A DIE HARD Musical Parody releasing a professionally filmed full-length production on the show’s official YouTube channel. “This show has become a holiday tradition for much of our audience,” notes Writer/Producer Michael Shepherd Jordan (MCL Chicago). “They couldn’t come to us this year so we went to them.”

The production team posted the 141 minute show on it’s official YouTube channel “Yippee The Musical” which audiences can enjoy free as often as they’d like to watch. All the team asks is that viewers subscribe to the channel, which is also free. “In some ways we’re able to engage with audiences on a more personal level via YouTube,” explains Writer/Producer Alex Garday (MCL Chicago, Game Night Out). “Through YouTube’s chat box on premiere videos the entire cast and crew was able to interact directly with fans sharing humorous anecdotes and behind the scenes stories of the production in the moment as they were happening on stage.”

“My family has been in the business of live theatre for a long time. We’ve never experienced anything like 2020,” recalls Lead Producer Drew DeSantis (Producer at Drury Lane Productions). “But theatre adapts, and we’re blessed to live in a time where we have the technology and platforms to reach our audience in their homes.”

A hilarious musical parody of the classic Christmas movie Die Hard, and yes Die Hard is a Christmas movie, Yippee invites audiences to the annual Nakatomi Christmas Eve Party on the 30th floor of the Nakatomi Plaza. Grizzled New York cop Bruce McClane is there to rekindle love between his estranged wife and 80s businesswoman Holly Generic. Everything is going swimmingly until fashion obsessed Hans Olo and his group of 12 German terrorists take everyone hostage...everyone except McClane.

Filled with hysterical musical numbers, farcical fight sequences, explosions, machine guns, and more Christmas snow than Los Angeles ever gets, there is a reason Yippee Ki-Yay Merry Christmas! A DIE HARD Christmas Musical has become a Chicago holiday tradition.

The cast features Jonathan Allsop (Fabrique/Theo), Caitlyn Cerza (Holly Generic), Nate Curlott (FBl Johnson), Alex DiVirgilio (Arnold), Gary Fields (Hans Olo), Ashley Geron (Officer Johnson), Bill Gordon (Bruce McClane), Jin Kim (Nakatomi), Terrance Lamonte Rogers Jr. (Carl Winslow), Erin Long (Klause), and Jenna Steege (Willis).

The band is composed of Stephanie McCullough (Keyboards), Paul Desman (Guitar), Aaron Paul Homard (Drums).
